Hi RManickam,
No,I have only tried with the volumes formatted with NTFS.,
OK so far so good.
One more thing,The same VMDK file is working properly with Vmware's vmware-mount.exe.
It is not working while i am trying programatically.(VMDK files of other guest OSs are working fine with my program).
IMHO that's an important piece of information. I think it's time for you to provide more details on your environment:
- OS of host which you are mounting on
- VDDK version used
- Partition layout of the volume you are trying to mount
- Maybe the full code could be helpful too
- etc.
To be honest I am currently not aware of the solution to your problem. Providing thorough information on your environment could attract others to you join the discussion.
Questions:
- You report that it works with vmware-mount.exe - have you already tried to mimic the behaviour of vmware-mount.exe, i.e. define a DOS device for the volume via WinAPI DefineDosDevice(...)?
- Further have you already tried to open the disk without the VIXDISKLIB_FLAG_OPEN_READ_ONLY flag?
- I have seen your post http://communities.vmware.com/thread/448199 what was the solution then as you now report vmware-mount.exe to work?
